Indian recruiters and campus drives expect a reverse-chronological resume: your latest role or project first, then earlier ones, then education and skills. Freshers keep it to one page; experienced candidates may use two.

India CV format for freshers
Freshers should lead with skills and projects, not education alone. List programming languages, tools and frameworks, then academic and internship projects with measurable outcomes — users reached, marks improved, time saved.
Include Class X and XII percentages with board and year, because many campus recruiters set minimum eligibility marks. Add degree, college, CGPA with its scale (for example 8.4/10), internships, certifications such as NPTEL, AWS or Google, and a short career objective only if it names the role you want.
India CV format: length, photo and declaration
One page suits freshers and early-career roles; two pages are common once you have several years of relevant experience. A photo is optional — most private employers do not need one, so leave it out unless the employer or placement cell asks for it.
A declaration is not needed for most private companies, but government, PSU and some traditional employers still expect one line with place, date and your name. Never put current or expected CTC on the resume; share it on the application form or when the recruiter asks.
India CV template: Naukri, campus drives and PDF
Recruiters search Naukri, LinkedIn India and Apna by skills and job titles, so match your skills section to the posting honestly and keep standard headings (Summary, Skills, Projects, Experience, Education). Avoid tables, text boxes and creative two-column layouts for ATS campus drives; single-column text parses cleanly.
Save a text-based PDF named Firstname-Lastname-Resume.pdf unless the portal asks for Word. PDF keeps your formatting identical on every device, which matters when a recruiter opens it on a phone.

Frequently asked questions
What is the best CV format for India?
Reverse-chronological: latest job first, then earlier roles, then education and skills. One page for freshers, up to two pages for experienced candidates.
Should freshers include Class X and XII marks?
Yes. Many campus recruiters set minimum Class X and XII percentages, so give board, year and percentage for both.
Do I need a photo or declaration on an Indian CV?
A photo is optional for most private employers; add one only if asked. A declaration is expected mainly by government and PSU employers, not by most private companies.
Is India CV format PDF or Word better?
A text-based PDF is best for most applications. Use Word only when the portal or employer asks for it.
